Master of Science in Business of Fashion

The Rutgers Business School: Graduate Programs-Newark and New Brunswick master of science in business of fashion (M.S.B.F.) is a cutting-edge program that prepares students for business careers in the fashion industry. Bridging the gap between creative passion and business acumen, the program provides students with the knowledge needed to position themselves to be key players in the industry--all in a location that is just minutes away from the fashion center of the world, New York City. 

As a student in our program, you will engage in a rigorous and relevant curriculum and have access to renowned, world-class faculty and industry professionals. Whether you are ready to break into a business career in the industry, are a creative design entrepreneur, or an industry veteran, the master of science in business of fashion will prepare you to be a leader in the field.

Total Credits

30 credits

Total Time to Complete Program      

Full-time students can enter in the fall semester and elect to either join the lockstep program (two semesters, 5.3 courses per semester) or the full-flex option: fall, spring, and fall (13,13, and 4 credits respectively). The full-flex option allows students to explore internships or other jobs over the summer before graduation and the last semester in the program.*

Part-time students are eligible to finish the program in four years.Part-time students can work at their own pace around busy schedules with M.S.B.F. classes offered on nights and weekends. 

Course selection each semester will be specified by the director for all students on an individual basis.

GRE or GMAT

Waivers are granted only in extreme cases, and are at the discretion of the director. A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience and/or very specific advanced terminal degrees are necessary, but not a sufficient condition.

Minimum Requirements        

Bachelor's degree are required. Those with undergraduate degrees in business, fine arts, design, economics, IT, computer science, communications, and other creative arts or quantitative fields are encouraged to apply. All fields are considered.
