Degree credit is awarded for advanced placement examination scores of 4 or 5 on the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations. No credit is given for grades of 1, 2, or 3. Credit is awarded only upon receipt of an official College Report from the Educational Testing Service. Use code 2765 when reporting scores for Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark.
Degree credit also is awarded for scores of 5, 6, or 7 on the high level (HL) International Baccalaureate (IB) examination. No credit is given for scores of 4 or below on the high level examination or for any results on the Standard Level (SL) IB exams. Credit is awarded only upon receipt of an official transcript from the International Baccalaureate Organization. The IB transcript should be submitted to the Office of Admissions along with the student's final high school transcript.
Similarly, degree credit is awarded for scores of A, B, or C on A Level Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). No credit is given for scores of D or below on the A Level examination or for any score on the AS Level or O Level examinations. Credit is awarded only upon receipt of an official certificate from Cambridge International Examinations. The CIE certificate should be submitted to the Office of Admissions along with the student's final high school transcript.
Some students may find that high school level courses earning degree credit through examination do not provide the same foundational knowledge that is available through an introductory level university course. Students may, after consultation with an adviser, decide to waive the credits from one of the examinations listed above to enable them to register for the introductory course in a particular academic discipline. If the student accepts the credits and subsequently enrolls in the course, the examination credit equivalent is replaced with the degree credits earned.
