The Newark College of Arts and Science's learning objectives call for an understanding of
intercultural relations and diversity. All students must therefore
demonstrate proficiency in a language other than English.
This requirement can be fulfilled by:
-
completing two years of study of a foreign language in high school;
-
completing a one-year, elementary, sequential course (6 credits) in a
foreign language offered by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies.
Note that the department regularly offers courses in a variety of languages, not only Spanish and Portuguese.
