Applying to the Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP)



Students can apply to UTEP while enrolled in Social Foundations of Urban Education (21:300:292). Applications to UTEP are accessible through Blackboard each semester to students enrolled in that course. Each year there are two application deadlines: April 1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission.

*According to New Jersey Department of Education's administrative code/guideline, teacher candidates pursuing certification in Spanish and Portuguese must register for a language acquisition course. This course, Methodologies for World Languages (21:615:320), is offered through the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and is offered in the spring semester.
**Teacher candidates who need to maintain full-time status during Student Teaching can register for one or both of Supervised Teaching courses: Supervised Teaching (21:300:427,428) - 3 credits each (fall/spring).
