Admission as First-Year Students

New Student Admission

Students who know from their initial application to Rutgers-Newark that they wish to major in a business subject may automatically become majors upon admission to Rutgers, so long as they denote which of the four majors--accounting, management, finance, or marketing--is their choice. If a student is undecided about their major, they may nevertheless become prebusiness students and take courses with permission of any Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-Newark academic adviser. Declared majors and prebusiness students are assigned an academic adviser within the Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-Newark program, and are encouraged to seek advisement each term prior to registration. Student advisement sessions will confirm that students are maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 or better and are progressing toward graduation with the correct course work for their major, prerequisites, and general education requirements.
