Nursing Leadership Curriculum


The Post-Baccalaureate Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nursing Leadership program is designed for those on a leadership trajectory across all settings. This program incorporates the ongoing changes in the healthcare system. The Essentials of the Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice (AACN), Quality and Safety in Education for Nurses (QSEN) and the American Organization of Nursing Leadership (AONL) competencies are embedded in this program. Students completing this program are prepared to take the leadership certification exam offered through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or AONL. This programs offers a blend of synchronous and asynchronous remote courses. The practicum courses are assigned and require 680 hours of mentored practicum experience by program completion. DNP Project experience hours are obtained through the development, implementation, and evaluation of the required DNP project.

Curriculum: The Post-Baccalaureate DNP Nursing Leadership Program is 60 credits with a minimum of 680 precepted practicum hours. This is when the student develops, implements, evaluates, and disseminates their DNP Project. Applications are accepted in both Fall and Spring semesters on a rolling basis.

In addition to the successful completion of the above course requirements, all DNP students must meet all the DNP project requirements set forth by the program.

*A student who does not complete their DNP project during the project-related courses will be registered for a 1-credit project continuation course in subsequent semesters until the project is complete.

The minimum number of combined clinical practicum and DNP project experience hours is 1000. Students, however, may be required to complete more than 1000 hours to meet minimum competency requirements for graduation and certification (when applicable).
