The Post-Baccalaureate Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) program is based at the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Campus in Newark, NJ. This program of study prepares nurses to assume the role of primary care provider for patients from adolescence to the elderly. The curriculum provides a combination of theory and practicum experiences. The School of Nursing offers students the opportunity to learn from experienced and nationally recognized faculty who are actively engaged in teaching and clinical practice. In addition to the successful completion of the above course requirements, all DNP students must meet all the DNP project requirements set forth by the program.
*A student who does not complete their DNP project during the project-related courses will be registered for a 1-credit project continuation course in subsequent semesters until the project is complete.
The minimum number of combined clinical practicum and DNP project experience hours is 1000. Students, however, may be required to complete more than 1000 hours to meet minimum competency requirements for graduation and certification (when applicable).
