Landscape Architecture is the planning and design of outdoor environments at the residential, city, and regional scale.  The program engages students in art, science, theory, and practice with a commitment to equitable, sustainable, and resilient solutions that contribute to human and environmental health and well-being.

Our nationally accredited program prepares students for Landscape Architecture licensure through a creative, analytic, and interdisciplinary approach to stewardship of the environment. Set in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, the program examines the ideas shaping the interaction of people and landscape and integrates scientific knowledge creatively in the designed environment. Interdisciplinary courses with environmental planning students provide a mutual foundation for both majors, promote collaboration between programs, and sets the groundwork for professional practice where landscape architects are part of or lead interdisciplinary teams of planners, engineers, ecologists, and social scientists.

The program also has a Minor in Landscape Design for students interested in
exploring design solutions to the environmental issues of our time--climate change, demographic shifts, increasing income inequality, food scarcity, and the spread of global pandemics to make our world more sustainable, viable, just, healthy, inclusive, and beautiful.
