Visual arts majors in the bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) program are required to complete a total of 87 credits as follows:
Foundation Courses (16 credits)
07:081:121-122 Drawing Fundamentals A and B (4,4)
07:081:227-228 Visual Thinking A and B (4,4)
Studio Concentration (27 credits)
A studio concentration course sequence of I-A and B, II-A and B, III-A and B, and a seminar in the concentration is required in one of the following options: design, drawing, media, painting, photography, print, or sculpture.
Concentration sequence: six 4-credit courses
Concentration seminar: 3 credits
Thesis and Exhibition A and B (3,3 credits)
Studio Electives (32 credits)
Art History Electives or a seminar in another concentration or cinema studies for media concentration students (3 credits)
Visual Arts Practice (3 credits Pass/Fail)*
In addition, students must complete a minimum of 33 credits of liberal
arts requirements (see the Degree Requirements chapter) for a total of
121 credits required for graduation, including the Interdisciplinary Seminar Interplay 07:557:151, 1 credit (which is optional for transfer students). These requirements do differ from the design major and include:
