11:035:258 Avian Field Identification for Use in Land Management (1) Field identification of birds by sight, sound, habitat and flight pattern; natural history, preferred habitats, and migration timeline along the Eastern Flyway in New Jersey.
11:035:268 Environmental Pollution - Issues in Agriculture, Industry, and Communities (2) Evidence-based analysis of real-world problems of air, water, and land pollution on the local, state, national, and international arenas. This online course offers extensive opportunities for active discussion threads.
11:035:272 River and Stream Ecology (1) This online course is a broad introduction to the chemical, physical; and biological processes of rivers and streams. Students will gain an appreciation of these water bodies as dynamic and constantly evolving ecosystems while acquiring skills to conduct and analyze scientific methods and data related to river and stream management issues.
11:035:274 Organic Farming and Gardening (2) This online course is an introduction to organic farming and gardening from the perspective of both agricultural professionals and home gardeners. After completing the course students will be able to plan and design an organic garden using concepts of soil fertility, composting, plant growth measurements, data collection, pest management, natural landscapes, and rain gardens.
11:035:280 American Lawns and Turfgrass (1.5) This online course presents a chance for students to explore the environmental, social, and economic aspects of lawns and turfgrass through a variety of readings. Contemporary issues for New Jersey will also be investigated, including pollution in Barnegat Bay and the state law regulating fertilizer applications to turf for homeowners and professional landscapers.
11:035:288 Edible Gardening for Enrichment and Education (2) Preparation and maintenance of residential/community/educational edible gardens.
11:035:300 Agricultural Commodities and Markets (3) Students will examine agricultural commodity markets and issues affecting agribusinesses. Students will develop skills for effective data analysis and interpretation, as well as management skills and professional qualities needed for successful careers in agribusiness.
Requires admission into the Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation Agribusiness Scholars Program.
11:035:400 Critical Analysis of Issues in Agribusiness (3) Students will critically analyze real-world contemporary issues driving the performance and trajectory of U.S. agricultural commodity markets and the agribusiness sector. Topics and field trips will vary by semester. Prerequisites: 11:035:300 and admission into the Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation Agribusiness Scholars Program.
