The minor in sociology consists of at least six courses totaling 19 credits. Grades of C or better are required in each of the courses. Courses required for the minor are 01:920:101 Introduction to Sociology and any one of 01:920:311 Introduction to Social Research, 01:920:312 Introduction to Statistics in Sociology, 01:920:313 Development of Sociological Theory, or 01:920:314 Contemporary Sociological Theories. Of the four elective courses, at least two must be at the 300 to 400 level (does not include 311, 312, 313, or 314), with one of these two 300-and-above courses being numbered 315 or higher. No more than 6 credits at the 100 level and no more than 3 credits of Field Study (01:920:385,386) or Civic Engagement and Service Education Partnerships (CESEP) (01:920:399) may be applied toward the minor.
The course 01:920:222 (Criminology) cannot be counted toward the sociology minor by criminal justice majors. Furthermore,
no more than three courses may be counted jointly
for the criminal justice major and the sociology minor.
