Students will be able to critically examine various aspects
of traditional and modern Chinese culture, thought, literature, and society
from an interdisciplinary perspective. They
will demonstrate knowledge of the major intellectual and cultural traditions of
classical China and be able to identify and discuss continuities and breaks
between traditional and modern China. They will be able to analyze contemporary
China from a global and comparative perspective. Students will be able to effectively communicate
orally and in writing and make use of current technologies to access, evaluate,
and properly document information in the creation of new knowledge.
