The interdisciplinary minor in science, technology, and society (STS) consists of seven courses that must include 01:880:220 Introduction to Science, Technology, and Society--a 3-credit multidisciplinary course that is designed specifically for students in the minor; 01:880:404 Topics in Science, Technology, and Society--a 1-credit senior seminar; and five 3-credit courses in the area of STS (see STS-Area Courses later in this section).
In addition, students must show some familiarity with mathematics and science, defined by taking two courses in each (see the Mathematics Requirement and the Science Requirement sections on the STS-Area Courses page).
Course selections for the minor must be approved by the program director or a program adviser. Only courses completed with grades of C or better are counted toward the minor.
