Students with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and a grade-point average of 3.4 or better in the major at the end of the junior year may apply for admission to the honors program by writing to the department chair no later than the first week of the senior year. Candidates spend two semesters preparing an honors paper under the supervision of a designated faculty member and complete an oral examination of the project during the final semester of the senior year. In addition to completing all requirements for the geography major, candidates in the departmental honors program must complete 01:450:495 and 496 (Honors Project: Geography).
