Sixty core credits are required for the master of fine arts (M.F.A.) degree. A normal semester load is 16 credits per semester, which is four visual arts classes at 4 credits each. Students may not exceed the maximum 20-credit hour limit for registration. Credits earned from classes taken outside of the visual arts program will not be counted toward the M.F.A. degree.
First-year students are required to register for Visiting Artists/First-Year Review (08:081:521-522) for both fall and spring semesters. In their final semester second-year students must register for Thesis (08:081:703) and Exhibition (08:081:704). First-year students register for 500-level visual arts classes, and second-year students register for 600-level courses.
