  Mason Gross School of the Arts 2016–2018 Graduate Programs in Visual Arts Master of Fine Arts Program Required Course of Study  

Required Course of Study


Sixty core credits are required for the master of fine arts (M.F.A.) degree. A normal semester load is 16 credits per semester, which is four visual arts classes at 4 credits each. Students may not exceed the maximum 20-credit hour limit for registration. Credits earned from classes taken outside of the visual arts program will not be counted toward the M.F.A. degree.

First-year students are required to register for Visiting Artists/First-Year Review (08:081:521-522) for both fall and spring semesters. In their final semester second-year students must register for Thesis (08:081:703) and Exhibition (08:081:704). First-year students register for 500-level visual arts classes, and second-year students register for 600-level courses.
