Students
must complete at least 48 credits of coursework, with an additional 24 credits
of dissertation research. The minimum of 48 credits of coursework includes:
1. At least 24 credits in the Ed.D. core, including:
6 credits in Educational Leadership
6 credits in Learning and Learners
6 credits in the Social Context of Education
6 credits in Inquiry
2. At least 24 credits in
a concentration. The Graduate School of Education offers the following concentrations:
Design of Learning Contexts
Education, Culture, and Society
Educational Leadership
Teacher Leadership
Transfer
of Credit
Students may transfer up to 18 credits of
graduate level coursework taken at an accredited institution of higher
education. Up to 9 credits may be used to substitute for work in the Ed.D.
core, but no more than 3 credits may substitute for work in any one area--i.e.,
leadership, social context, learning and learners, etc. Approval of transfer
credits is to be determined by the Ed.D. Admissions and Transfer Committee and approved by the Ed.D. director.
