The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) is dedicated to improving early childhood education and care for all children through research to inform policy and practice. The institute counts many distinguished Graduate School of Education (GSE) faculty members as participants, and has a strong multidisciplinary research faculty representing education, psychology, child development, policy, and economics. NIEER offers independent research-based analysis, technical assistance, and professional development to policymakers throughout New Jersey, across the nation, and internationally. NIEER's studies have been published in top scientific journals, as well as nonacademic formats designed to meet the needs of policymakers and practitioners for timely, accurate, and succinct reports focused on issues of current concern. NIEER provides technical assistance to elected and appointed officials, their staff, and program administrators. Advancing transparency and accountability in public policy related to early childhood education is a particular focus of the institute.
