The master of arts for teachers (M.A.T.) is for those interested in pursuing a career in K-12 teaching or teaching at the community college level. The program focuses especially on providing training in Spanish that will be of practical use for teachers working in a bilingual setting. The M.A.T. offers fluent Spanish speakers who may come from a variety of cultural and educational traditions a thorough grounding in the methodologies and expectations common in U.S. classrooms. The M.A.T. is also a good fit for Anglophone students looking to improve their fluency in Spanish. Graduates will combine advanced abilities in the target language with intense training in pedagogical methods and an acute sensibility to the special needs in their academic and cultural communities.
