The Ph.D. in public affairs with a concentration in community development is offered by the Department of Public Policy and Administration (DPPA) and consists of interdisciplinary coursework culminating in a doctoral dissertation. The curriculum is designed to give students a strong theoretical grounding in the interdisciplinary nature of public affairs and community development by incorporating courses from the DPPA, law school, business school, and other graduate programs at Rutgers University-Camden. The campus offers a variety of research opportunities and resources including the Rutgers University-Camden Technology Campus business incubator, Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs, Community Leadership Center, the LEAP Academy University charter schools, and the Center for Urban Research and Education. Graduate students in public affairs have been awarded a variety of grants and fellowships. Many regularly present their work at regional, national, and international conferences and publish in scholarly journals and edited books.
