Admission Requirements

Admission to the M.A. program is based on a combination of undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) transcripts with a minimum 3.0 GPA, GRE scores, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation. Students who complete the M.A. program and who then wish to pursue a Ph.D. must complete a separate application to the Ph.D. program.

Admission to the Ph.D. program is based on a combination of undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) transcripts with a minimum 3.2 GPA, GRE scores, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation.  Admissions decisions are based on a combination of the candidate's academic qualifications and their match with areas of faculty expertise (these areas are described on the faculty page).
