Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Health Competencies - Social and Behavioral Health Sciences
Each concentration identifies competencies for each degree offered. These competencies reflect the full range of knowledge, skills, and other attributes that a student will acquire as a result of completing the requirements for a particular degree.
Upon graduation, a student completing the Ph.D. in Public Health curriculum in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences will be able to:
- PhD-SBHS1: Design and conduct research investigations related to health behavior;
- PhD-SBHS2: Apply univariate and multivariable analytic techniques to understand health behaviors;
- PhD-SBHS3: Demonstrate ability to critically analyze and interpret the scientific literature;
- PhD-SBHS4: Develop grant writing skills to establish a program of funded research;
- PhD-SBHS5: Demonstrate proficiency in individual or organizational models of behavior change; and
- PhD-SBHS6: Construct conceptual or empirical models describing the behavior of individuals or households regarding their health status.
