Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Health Competencies - Health Systems and Policy

Each concentration identifies competencies for each degree offered. These competencies reflect the full range of knowledge, skills, and other attributes that a student will acquire as a result of completing the requirements for a particular degree.
Upon graduation, a student completing the Ph.D. in Public Health - curriculum in Health Systems and Policy curriculum will be able to:
  • PhD-HSAP1: Review and interpret scientific literature in health systems and policy;
  • PhD-HSAP2: Apply social science theories and methods to the analyses of key issues in health systems and policy;
  • PhD-HSAP3: Apply appropriate statistical techniques and software to the analyses of data sets;
  • PhD-HSAP4: Analyze a contemporary health policy issue; and
  • PhD-HSAP5: Evaluate ethical concerns in public health policy and administration.
