Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) Competencies - Epidemiology
Each concentration identifies competencies for each degree offered. These competencies reflect the full range of knowledge, skills, and other attributes that a student will acquire as a result of completing the requirements for a particular degree.
Upon graduation, a student completing the M.P.H. curriculum in Epidemiology will be able to:
- MPH-EPID1: Critique epidemiologic literature, assess its strengths and weaknesses, and determine if conclusion(s) are supported;
- MPH-EPID2: Use epidemiologic techniques to quantitatively assess patterns in disease occurrence;
- MPH-EPID3: Formulate a specific hypothesis and an appropriate study design and analysis plan;
- MPH-EPID4: Design, implement, and assess ordinary data collection systems for public health research;
- MPH-EPID5: Implement basic quality control methods during data analysis;
- MPH-EPID6: Appropriately analyze and interpret epidemiologic data, such as large national and state level datasets; and
- MPH-EPID7: Communicate and present study findings to professional audiences.
