Certificate in Nonprofit Management (Credit Bearing)

The nonprofit management sector in the United States consists of over 1.6 million entities pursuing public service missions ranging from direct client services to advocacy. The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) graduate certificate in nonprofit management offers busy practitioners interested or working in the nonprofit sector an opportunity to develop competencies in important elements of nonprofit organization management and performance. Certificate courses may also be taken by master of public administration (M.P.A.) students as a specialization in their degree program. The certificate in nonprofit management consists of four courses: Nonprofit Budgeting, Grant Writing and Grants Management, Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations, and Strategic Planning.

Applicants for the certificate in nonprofit management may enroll as a nondegree student at the graduate admissions website and register in the courses as they are scheduled in regular semester schedules. Students completing certificate requirements should notify assistant dean of academic affairs Gail Daniels (gaild@newark.rutgers.edu), who will verify completion and issue the certificate. Certificate courses also may be applied to the M.P.A. degree as a specialization.
