The online certificate in government and nonprofit financial management offers busy practitioners interested or working in
government or nonprofit sectors an opportunity to develop competencies in
important elements of financial management and performance. The
certificate program addresses the rapidly changing environments in government
and nonprofits that result from fiscal crisis. The new reality requires that individuals in
public organizations reorient conventional thinking about budgeting and
financial management and move to a more systemic approach. Students will gain
an understanding of conventional thinking on these issues, as well as
appreciation of how changing conditions foster new thinking and approaches. The
courses prepare students to sit for the Certified Government Financial Manager
exam sponsored by the Association of Government Accountants.
