Cancellation of Classes


In the event of a weather emergency, a University Operating Status page will be posted on the Rutgers University-New Brunswick website at https://newbrunswick.rutgers.edu/status. Please refer to this page for updated information on closings, class cancellations, or delayed openings.

A delayed opening for the campuses in New Brunswick or Piscataway is defined as opening at 9:50 a.m. An early closing on those campuses is defined as no classes after 4:10 p.m. Please do not call the Rutgers police for closing or cancellation information.

Cancellation of daytime classes are generally broadcast before 6:30 a.m. by participating stations, and cancellations for evening classes are announced in the late afternoon.

Announcements concerning campus status will be made over the following stations: WRNJ (1510 AM), WCTC (1450 AM), WCBS (880 AM), WINS (1010 AM), WKXW (101.5 FM), WRSU (88.7 FM), and NEWS12 (cable).

Additionally, information will be available through RU-tv's Rutgers INFO Channel 3; the campus operating status page https://newbrunswick.rutgers.edu/status and from RU-info, 732-445-info.

Arrangements for makeup work are announced by individual instructors.
