Students will benefit from the educational, clinical training,
and research strengths of the School of Health Professions (SHP) with those of the School of Public Health (SPH) in a program that
provides a strong foundation in public health nutrition and clinical nutrition
knowledge and practice.
This new degree program combines the ELMSCN, which prepares
students to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) credentialing
exam to become a Registered Dietitian (RD), with the master of public health (M.P.H.) nutrition
concentration. Students will be provided with a dual master's degree path of
didactic courses and experiential learning to be eligible to take the RD exam
and gain their M.P.H. degree.
Benefits of the dual-degree program include:
-
The knowledge and skills gained will allow graduates to
communicate effectively with peers in clinical and public health
nutrition.
-
It can be completed in 3.5 years as opposed to ~4.5
years for separate programs.
