Prior to graduation, Rutgers School of Health Professions cardiovascular sonography program students will
demonstrate the following competencies:

Describe the physical principles of ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound blood
flow velocity measurements.

Recognize and interpret sonographic and Doppler ultrasound features of normal
cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

Document imaging data and findings that reflect noncritical (normal or routine) vs.
critical (emergent) results to an appropriate medical authority.

Perform techniques of patient care appropriate to those of the diagnostic cardiovascular
sonographer.

Exhibit professional and ethical behaviors in the delivery of patient services
commensurate with the expectations of the medical professions.
