Program Learning Outcomes


Prior to graduation, Rutgers School of Health Professions cardiovascular sonography program students will demonstrate the following competencies: 
  • Describe the physical principles of ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound blood flow velocity measurements.
  • Recognize and interpret sonographic and Doppler ultrasound features of normal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Document imaging data and findings that reflect noncritical (normal or routine) vs. critical (emergent) results to an appropriate medical authority.
  • Perform techniques of patient care appropriate to those of the diagnostic cardiovascular sonographer.
  • Exhibit professional and ethical behaviors in the delivery of patient services commensurate with the expectations of the medical professions.
