Security Management Concentration


The Security Management Concentration is a collaboration between the School of Criminal Justice, the Rutgers Business School, and corporate leaders within the state of New Jersey.

 

The concentration in Security Management is comprised of 12 credits beyond the required courses for the Ph.D. program. A student must complete 12 credits of the required course work within the Ph.D. program prior to enrollment in the Security Management Concentration. The concentration will fulfill a portion (12 credits) of elective course work for the Ph.D. program.  


Security Management Concentration Requirements for SCJ students

      Foundations of Entrepreneurship              3 credits

      Business Elective in RBS                            3 credits

      Pro-Seminar                                                   3 credits

      Supervised Fieldwork                                   3 credits

      TOTAL                                                           12 credits

 

Pro-Seminar and Fieldwork

Students will be required to complete the Pro-Seminar course for the concentration.  A student must complete 24 credits of course work prior to enrollment in the Pro-Seminar and the Fieldwork.The Pro-Seminar will address current and relevant trends within security management industry.  Corporate and industry leaders will be guest lecturers for the seminar, providing insight and practical application of studied theories.  The Pro-Seminar course should be taken in tandem with the Supervised Fieldwork experience. Students will need to follow the procedures that are currently outlined for "Fieldwork" in the School of Criminal Justice Graduate Catalog.
