Applicants
who have completed graduate work in library and information science in
other library and information science programs accredited by the
American Library Association (ALA) may apply for transfer of 6 credits
if the work was completed with a grade of B or better within three
years prior to admission to the Rutgers master of library and
information science (M.L.I.S.) program. No transfer of credit is
granted for undergraduate coursework applied toward an undergraduate
degree. No credit is awarded for prior work experience in library and
information service. Students having prior coursework in library and
information science are encouraged to discuss with their adviser the
development of a program that avoids the substantial repetition of
content. After admission to the school, students who have
not transferred 6 credits may, with their adviser's prior approval,
take up to a total of 6 credits of work in another department at
Rutgers or in another library and information science program
accredited by the ALA.
