To be considered a full-time student in the Newark College of Arts and Sciences, an individual must carry a minimum of 12 credits per semester. Students may carry between 1 and 19 credits, but not more than 19 credits per semester without written permission
from the Office of Academic Services.
Credit overloads are intended for exceptional students. As a rule,
a student must meet all of the following standards for consideration for a credit overload:
-
Cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher
-
Basic writing skills completed
- Quantitative reasoning completed
-
Major declared with an academic department
-
Successful completion of 24 credits at Rutgers University-Newark
In addition to meeting the standards listed above, requests
are reviewed on a case-by-case basis after an evaluation of
past performance, number of credits taken in prior semesters, and
specific courses being attempted.
