The Department of African American and African Studies at Rutgers University-Newark offers an interdisciplinary major and minor that focuses on the historical, socioeconomic, and cultural experiences of African Americans and African people in the worldwide diaspora. Courses also are designed to integrate scholarship on gender, race, and class.
Major Requirements
Thirty-six (36) credits of courses with a grade of C or better are required for a major in the discipline.

Minor Requirements
