Students transferring from one of New Jersey's community colleges are subject to all of the policies and procedures described in the Transfer Credits section of the catalog. The following additional procedures will apply to students transferring from New Jersey community colleges to the Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark:
1. Students who have completed an A.A. or A.S. degree from a New Jersey community college in January 2005 or thereafter and who have completed the required general education curriculum specified in the New Jersey Comprehensive State-Wide Transfer Agreement as a part of their degree, will have 60-65 degree credits transferred toward a baccalaureate degree program at Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark.
2. These transfer students will be considered to have completed all lower-division core curriculum requirements. Transfer students should be aware that they must complete all the requirements listed under the Degree Requirements section of this catalog for the appropriate school except the college's core curriculum.
3. One reason a student would be required to complete more than the standard half of the remaining credits for any of the baccalaureate degrees offered by the Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark is if a required course for the degree has a prerequisite which the student has not completed at the community college. Another reason would be if a student changes their program of study upon transferring into the Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark.
4. Transfer students must meet the specific graduation requirements of the Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark, including the completion of a major and a second concentration or passage of any required exit proficiency examinations.
5. Rutgers University–Newark will notify admitted New Jersey community college transfer students in a timely manner as to the acceptance and designation of transfer credits and remaining credits for graduation in a specific Newark College of Arts and Sciences or University College-Newark baccalaureate degree program, if the student fully completed the application and paid the associated fees by the Rutgers priority application date for transfer students. Pending receipt of such evaluation, students may check NJ Transfer (http://www.njtransfer.org) to view how their courses will transfer.
These procedures are current as of the date of publication of this catalog. Changes and updates may be found at http://www.ncas.rutgers.edu/oas/transfer-students.
