Placement tests are administered to incoming students admitted to University College-Newark to evaluate their proficiency in mathematics and
English composition prior to course enrollment.
Transfer students who have completed at least one college-level
mathematics course at or above the level of college algebra may be exempt from
placement testing in mathematics, and those who have completed at least one
college-level composition course may be exempt from placement testing in
writing. All other entering students must take a placement test in mathematics
and writing before they may register for courses. For more information visit http://www.ncas.rutgers.edu/required-placement-testing.
Additional information on placement testing and registration can be
found at http://www.ncas.rutgers.edu/oas/testing. Students residing more than 200 miles from campus may be
eligible for off-site placement testing. Please contact the Office of Academic
Services for information about remote placement testing or visit http://www.ncas.rutgers.edu/remotetesting.
