RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-NEWARK CRIMINAL JUSTICE MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
Effective fall 2013, students must complete 38 credits for the major: 9 credits of required courses, 8 credits of research methods and statistics, plus 21 credits of electives.
Students entering the program prior to July 1, 2013, will be treated as transition students and accommodations will be made as necessary. Effective fall 2014, curriculum and required credits for the major will increase from 38 to 41. Please contact the School of Criminal Justice for a complete list of the new requirements. Note, only grades of C or better will be used toward the major.
General Education Requirements: The School of Criminal Justice will follow core curriculum requirements in practice for Newark College of Arts and Science (NCAS) and University College (UC) with the exception that School of Criminal Justice students will be allowed to register for a maximum of 19 credits per semester. All requests for credit overloads will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the undergraduate assistant dean.
