Awards and Scholarships


Students in Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-Newark may compete for the following awards:

Accounting Program Award.  Awarded each year to the graduating accounting major who has not only demonstrated academic excellence in all departmental coursework but who has also made significant progress toward a commitment to a professional career in accounting through personal achievement and contributions to the department.

Beta Gamma Sigma.  Beta Gamma Sigma is the national scholastic honor society in the field of business administration. To be eligible for Beta Gamma Sigma, a student must rank in the top 5 percent of the junior class or in the top 10 percent of the senior class.

The J.H. Cohn Award.  This award is presented to a junior accounting major who has achieved academic excellence, is well-rounded, involved in extracurricular activities, and plans to pursue a career in the accounting profession.

Ernst & Young Scholarship Award.  The Ernst & Young Scholarship Award is given in the form of tuition assistance to the most promising junior-year accounting major.

Finance Department Award.  Awarded each year to that graduating student with the best grades in the field.

John R.H. Gilmour Public Accounting Award.  Cash award given to the most promising senior student who has chosen a career in public accounting.

Management and Global Business Department Award.  Awarded each year to the graduating student with the best grades in the field.

Management Sciences Department Award.  Awarded each year to the graduating student with the best grades in the field.

Marketing Department Award.  Awarded each year to the graduating student with the best grades in the field.

Dr. Rosa Oppenheim Leadership Award.  This award honors Executive Vice Dean Dr. Rosa Oppenheim's extraordinary commitment to Rutgers Business School and the leadership she has exhibited throughout her career, including two stints as interim dean. This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to positive leadership.

Rutgers Business School Alumni Association Prize, Newark Undergraduate.  This prize is given each year to a member of the Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-Newark program who has shown the greatest achievement in both scholastic and extracurricular services.

Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-Newark Dean's Award.  This award is given by the dean of Rutgers Business School to the Undergraduate-Newark student who is judged by the faculty to demonstrate the most outstanding overall excellence.

Zachary Stoumbos Memorial Award.  This award is given in memory of the late Professor Zachary Stoumbos, chair of the Department of Management Science and Information Systems, whose service to Rutgers and the academic community was distinguished by an unwavering commitment to excellence. The Zachary Stoumbos Memorial Award recognizes an undergraduate student with a major or concentration in Management Science and Information Systems who exemplifies excellence in academic and extracurricular activities.
