Reading in the law codes issued by Sumerian monarchs (Ur-Nammu, Lipit-Ishtar) and Babylonia (Eshnunna, Hammurabi). Legal principles, the administration of justice, and regulations concerning social and economic activities. Diverse court cases from the cruciform archives of the Fertile Crescent; texts and international relations in Syria-Asia Minor; Egyptian legal documents; the moral principles of their negative confessions; and selected passages from the three law codes in the Hebrew Bible will be analyzed.
