Students are expected to have completed two years of high school study
of a foreign language prior to entering college. Students who have not
fulfilled this expectation will be required to complete a one-year,
elementary, sequential course (6 credits) in a foreign language offered
by the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures.
The department offers such courses in French, German, Greek, Hebrew,
Italian, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. A placement exam, administered by
the department, must be taken before registering for a foreign
language. Students must take 6 credits to receive any credit.
