John R. Kettle III


Clinical professor of law, Community Law Clinic (Copyright and Trademark; Advanced Intellectual Property; Entertainment Law; Contracts; Community Law Clinic)

Professor Kettle received his B.S. magna cum laude from Bloomfield College and his J.D. from Rutgers-Newark. He joined the faculty in 1991 as an adjunct professor and became a full-time member of the faculty in 2000. He was counsel to Stryker, Tams & Dill LLP from 1993 until his academic leave in 2000. Previously, he was an adjunct and visiting professor at Seton Hall Law School and was associated with the Prudential Insurance Company of America. He is a former chair of the New York State Bar Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section and former chair of the New Jersey State Bar Entertainment and Arts Law Committee. His publications have been in the areas of intellectual property, and entertainment, arts, and sports law.

Professor Kettle supervises the intellectual property and entertainment law clinical work at the law school where he also teaches doctrinal courses in entertainment law, intellectual property law, and contract law.

Professor Kettle is faculty adviser to the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal, the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, and the Intellectual Property Law Society, and is a former member of the editorial board of the New Jersey Law Journal. Professor Kettle is also a lecturer for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Practicing Law Institute on entertainment and intellectual property law subjects.
