26:705:540 Primary Health Care Theory II (3) Builds on graduate core and specialty knowledge to promote cost-effective, quality primary health care where advanced practice nurses are initial contact for the clients within the health care system, promoting client wellness, diagnosing and treating common health deviations, stabilizing chronic health problems, and referring patients to other providers. 26:705:630 Advanced Practice: Acute-Care Practicum II (6) Continued development of competency in delivery of advanced acute-care nursing to adults across the life span. 26:705:633 Acute Care Advanced Practice III (4) This theory and practicum course focuses on the application of knowledge essential to advanced practice nursing with acutely and critically ill clients. The focus of this course is on designing and managing interventional strategies for care of acutely and critically ill clients, utilizing telecommunication technologies in the delivery of advanced practice nursing care, and implementing outcome measures. 26:705:524 Community Health Nursing Theory I (3) Advanced specialized knowledge relevant to nursing care for health promotion and prevention in populations, groups, and individuals and families in the community examined. Focus on assessment and analysis of patterns of health, interdisciplinary collaboration, program planning, and policy development. Prerequisites: 26:705:504, 510, 520; 26:120:547. 26:705:525 Community Health Nursing Practicum I (3) Exploration and analysis of community health nursing in a designated community. Emphasis on the health needs of a community and focus on community assessment: the identification of health problems and/or potential problems, planning and implementation of a community program to alleviate the problem(s), and evaluation of the plans. Corequisite: 26:705:524.
26:705:570 Management of Health Data (3) Students create and manage quantitative data to assess health needs, evaluate health outcome data, and test hypotheses and research questions using descriptive and inferential statistics. Includes assumptions underlying various methods, interpretation, and statistical methods using spreadsheets and a statistical software package. Basic concepts for creating and editing computer files and computer methods taught, with emphasis on application. Prerequisites: Descriptive and inferential statistics, research methods (master's level).
26:705:550 Health Promotion Design Practicum (3) Focuses on application of knowledge essential to advanced practice nursing with populations, aggregates, and individuals and families in the community. 26:705:515 Human Behavior: Practicum I (3) Advanced nursing knowledge of individuals, families, and groups is applied to advanced nursing practice. Individual and group patterns assessed in order to plan, manage, and evaluate selected clients. Students develop individual learning contracts congruent with College of Nursing and agency policies. 26:705:552 Family Systems Theory I (3) Synthesizes advanced practice psychiatric mental health knowledge relevant to high-risk families; examines theories and research findings pertinent to the mental-health care of families. Knowledge needed for mental-health assessment, psychodynamic formulation, and intervention with culturally diverse, high-risk families will be addressed.

26:705:516 Human Behavior: Theory II (3) Advanced practice role with individuals, families, and therapeutic groups as clients. Behavior patterns in crises and acute mental health problems, patterns of interventions from a short-term perspective, and relevant research examined. Prerequisites: 26:705:514, 515.
26:705:517 Human Behavior: Practicum II (3) Advanced nursing knowledge of individuals, families, and groups applied to advanced nursing practice. Individual and group patterns of behavior are analyzed in order to plan, manage, and evaluate the care of selected clients. Corequisite: 26:705:516.

26:705:555 Oncology Theory I (3) Focuses on theory relevant to the diagnosis and management of the adult client with cancer. Designed to synthesize advanced practice knowledge relevant to culturally diverse young, middle, and elderly clients with cancer. Students examine theories, research findings, and evidence-based practice standards pertinent to these patient populations. Knowledge needed for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of these clients in outpatient, inpatient, and hospice care settings is addressed. 26:705:556 Oncology Practicum I (3) Application of knowledge essential to the advanced practice nursing of young, middle, and older adults with cancer. Focuses on the diagnosis and management of the adult oncology client. Corequisite: 26:705:555.
26:705:557 Oncology Theory II (3) Focuses on theory relevant to the diagnosis and management of the adult client with cancer and continues the information learned in Oncology Theory I. Covers the primary cancers, including their epidemiology, etiology, detection, diagnosis, management, and implications for the advanced practice nurse. Prerequisites: 26:705:555, 556.
26:705:558 Oncology Practicum II (3) Application of knowledge and skills essential to the advanced practice nursing of young, middle, and older adults with cancer. Focuses on the management and follow-up of the adult oncology client. Corequisite: 26:705:557.
26:705:559 Oncology Theory III (3) Focuses on theory relevant to the diagnosis and management of the pediatric client with cancer and general psychosocial concerns for the person diagnosed with cancer, at any age. Content also covers public health education and prevention, clinical research, and the role of the advanced practice nurse specializing in oncology. Students examine theories, research findings, and evidence-based practice standards as they apply to this population. Knowledge and skills needed for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of these clients in outpatient, inpatient, hospice care, and community settings is addressed. Prerequisites: 26:705:555, 556, 557, 558.
26:705:560 Oncology Practicum III (3) Application of knowledge and skills essential to the advanced practice nursing of infants, children, and adolescents with cancer and to the prevention of cancer in the general public. Attention focused on the psychosocial concerns and issues of the client at any age with cancer, clinical trails, and end-of-life care. Corequisite: 26:705:559.

26:705:545 Design of Curriculum and Instruction (3) Design and application of principles of curriculum and instructional design in the classroom and clinical settings. Methods and strategies relative to the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, which are appropriate to the learner, discussed. Curriculum design and learning environments also highlighted. Pre- or corequisite: 16:300:582.
26:705:546 Education Practicum I (3) Application of educational theory courses in the clinical classroom settings. The students practice in an advanced functional role of the nurse educator with students in both the clinical and classroom settings under the guidance of a master's or doctorate-prepared preceptor. Prerequisite: 16:300:582. Corequisite: 26:705:545.
26:705:547 Evaluation and Measurement in Nursing Education (3) Formative and summative evaluation in both classroom and clinical settings. Test and measurement techniques and instruments appropriate to the clinical and classroom settings emphasized. Evaluation of instruments used for measurement also discussed. Prerequisites: 26:705:545, 546.
26:705:548 Education Practicum II (3) Application of theories of curriculum development, teaching, and learning strategies in nursing schools. Under the aegis of a faculty preceptor, the students have opportunities to participate in experiences specific to nursing education. Corequisite: 26:705:547.

26:705:561 Nursing Concepts across the Life Span (3) Examination of nursing concepts across the life span. Various methods used to conduct concept analyses discussed. Theoretical perspectives underlying these concepts examined. Selected research findings relevant to individual concepts evaluated in light of the theoretical underpinnings and specific phase of human development in which the concepts were studied. Classic and contemporary nursing concepts reviewed. Prerequisites: 26:705:510, 512.
26:705:562 Nursing Concepts Relevant to Vulnerable Populations (3) Focuses on the examination of nursing concepts relevant to vulnerable populations, such as pregnant women, acute and chronically ill individuals, and the underserved. Theories underlying these concepts examined. Research findings relevant to individual concepts evaluated in light of related theories and the vulnerable population in which the concepts were studied. Methods for an integrative review of the research literature and a research synthesis discussed. Prerequisite: 26:705:560.
26:705:563 Research Practicum (3) Emphasizes practical application of knowledge relevant to theory development and research gained in the master's program. The student crystallizes the role of the nurse scientist by preparing a grant application for a predoctoral award at the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and by exploring other resources available to doctoral education. In this process-oriented course, students construct a grant application under the supervision that focuses on a concept of interest to them, the theoretical perspectives underlying the concept, and gaps in the literature identified by the student's review of the literature. The student proposes a research project and identifies mentors who provide credibility and supervision to carry out the research project. Interdisciplinary collaboration encouraged. Prerequisites: 26:705:510, 512, 561. Corequisite: 26:705:562.
