Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF)

The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program is a state-sponsored program for highly motivated students who live in New Jersey. The program targets eligible students who excel in their academic environments but may not have the educational preparation necessary to compete in a college environment without additional support.

The EOF program provides the student with financial assistance to defray the cost of education, academic assistance to compete in the classroom, and counseling assistance to develop leadership skills. The financial assistance is provided in the form of a grant, and amounts vary. Academic assistance is provided to support students with the rigorous nursing curriculum. Support consists of individual tutoring; concurrent special support courses in the sciences, math, and nursing; and special seminars in writing and test-taking. In addition, a summer readiness program; a pre-junior clinical summer enrichment program; an NCLEX-RN review; student leadership development programs; and the sponsoring of membership in honor clubs and societies are provided to students. Counseling assistance is provided in the form of individual, group, and family counseling; first-year student seminars; and the overseeing of student organizations and clubs. The program is available to eligible students coming directly out of high school and to transfer students who were EOF students at their previous institutions. Rutgers has the only EOF program dedicated solely to a nursing curriculum. For further information visit the School of Nursing EOF webpage.
