The post-master's certificate program at Rutgers School of Nursing is designed specifically for
registered nurses who have a master's degree but did not follow a course of
study that led to national certification as a nurse practitioner. Nurse
practitioners who would like to achieve certification in another specialty area
are also appropriate for this program. The post-master's certificate is offered

Academic and Professional
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing as well as
either a M.S.N. or D.N.P. from a nationally accredited program with at minimum 3.2 GPA
- Undergraduate descriptive/inferential statistics
course and physical assessment course
- Proof of current registered nurse licensure
in the State of New Jersey
- Student must have a master of science degree in nursing
- All post-master's programs, except
Informatics, require 9 credits in Advanced Pathophysiology,
Advanced Pharmacology*, and Advanced Health Assessment prior to admittance.
*Pharmacology credits must be within five years of state APN certification. If older than five years, the course may be repeated or continuing pharmacology education
hours will need to be obtained.
Letters of Reference and
Writing Sample
- Two letters of reference from graduate
prepared nurses or academicians
- Two scholarly papers of which the applicant
is the sole author. This may be a published article, book chapter, or a paper
completed for coursework.

nursing experience, career goals, and what you perceive your contribution will
be to the nursing profession after obtaining your degree

Faculty Interview

An interview with a faculty member may be required.
You will be contacted during the application review process if an interview
with a faculty member will be necessary.
Interested applicants must complete the online application
process, submitting all required credentials and adhering to all deadlines.
For course descriptions for each specialty, refer to the specialty courses section
in the D.N.P. program of the catalog. The offering of specialty courses depends on an adequate cohort
of students.
