All students must earn at least 120 credits, with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.000. Students should successfully complete 15 degree credits each fall and spring semester, or a total of 30 degree credits a year including Summer Session in order to earn the required 120 credits in four years. Students admitted with placement into noncredit remedial courses and students in majors with rigid sequencing requirements that require certain courses be taken in the first year will need to plan very carefully to complete their baccalaureate requirements in four years of full-time study. Services can assist in developing an academic plan.
Students matriculated (i.e.,
registered in pursuit of a degree) at the School of Arts and Sciences
(SAS) must earn 30 of their last 42 credits while registered in classes
offered by Rutgers University-New Brunswick faculties or registered in special
programs, such as Study Abroad, approved in writing by the SAS Office of Advising and Academic
Services.
Students who transfer into SAS from other institutions with senior
status must earn a minimum of 30 credits while registered as SAS
students in order to receive a bachelor's degree from the school.
