Credit Limits

Students Applying for Entry in the First-Preprofessional Year (Applying from High School)

For accreditation purposes, students at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy are limited to 8 credits received for any combination of Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and courses at other institutions prior to the start of the fall of the first preprofessional year. This usually results in a limit of two courses being replaced by previous credit. Students are encouraged to submit documentation for programs listed above as soon as possible and will be notified in mid-August regarding what credits they are eligible for based on the 8-credit limit.

Students Applying for Entry into the First Professional Year (Applying as a Transfer with College Credits)

Due to the highly competitive nature of the transfer process, applicants may exceed the 8-credit limit. To be eligible for admission, applicants are expected to have all the preprofessional requirements complete at their current college. Upon admission, courses will be evaluated by the appropriate department at Rutgers to determine equivalencies.
