Selected topics on diet and nutrition as they relate to health and disease. The biochemical mechanisms and critical analyses of the existing information will be emphasized. Students are encouraged to make class presentations or write semester papers.

Study of the basic principles of human disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and helminth parasites. There will be emphasis on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and chemotherapy of infectious diseases and immune mechanisms of disease prevention.
