Biological Sciences 119

Degree: B.A.

Program Director: Martha Haviland (haviland@biology.rutgers.edu)

Director of Advising: David Mellor (mellor@biology.rutgers.edu)

Adviser: Joseph Ventola (ventola@aesop.rutgers.edu)

Students in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) may choose the major in biological sciences, which is offered by the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). Completion of the major prepares students for graduate study; for careers in government, industry, or secondary school teaching; and also satisfies the entrance requirements for medical and dental schools.

Students interested in more specialized majors in the life/biological sciences (such as agricultural science; animal science; biochemistry; biotechnology; cell biology and neuroscience; ecology, evolution, and natural resources; exercise science and sports studies; food science; genetics; marine sciences; microbiology; molecular biology and biochemistry; nutritional sciences; or plant science) should refer to the relevant sections of the catalog and should also contact the program coordinator or adviser for the specific major of interest.
