With the approval of the dean of the Ernest Mario School of
Pharmacy, and the department concerned, a student may, upon payment of
a fee, take a proficiency examination in courses offered at the
university. Degree credit is given for a grade of B or better, as
determined by the department concerned. The grades for courses passed
by this means are not computed in the cumulative grade-point average.
Proficiency examinations ordinarily are not allowed in the following
cases:
1. after the student has failed the course
2. for courses in which the principal content is laboratory or
creative work, since the course's primary value is in the student's
continuing and supervised participation
3. when a student's fourth- or fifth-year program is limited as to overload
4. for military education courses
5. for minicourses
