07:966:105 Drawing Practice: Theater Design (2 each semester for eight semesters) Daily drawing practice. Class fee: up to $20 per semester for models. Prerequisite: Open only to B.F.A. design majors or by permission of instructor. Course may be repeated for credit. Jurinek.
07:966:107-108 B.F.A. Acting Warm-Up (1,1) Vocal and physical warm-up to prepare actors for acting, voice, speech, and movement classes. Open to B.F.A. actors only. Course my be repeated for credit. Liccardo/Schuld/Gibson-Clark.
07:966:123 Theater Practice (2) Crew assignments each semester in set, prop, and costume construction or running crew in sets/props, sound, lights, costumes, and costume maintenance. A minimum of 90 crew hours is required to pass the course, but some production running assignments may require up to 150 hours. Course is repeated. 07:966:242 Introduction to Stage Lighting (2) A seminar/lab course discussing and applying stage lighting practices. The course is focused on the technologies used in entertainment lighting working with attention on: computer light boards, moving lights, dimmers, and rigging.

07:966:245-246 History of Architecture and Decorative Arts (3,3) Weekly lectures and field trips to the Cloisters, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Frick Collection, and other museums where students do sketch assignments covering appropriate historical periods. 07:966:315 Stage Management I (3) Introduction to the position of stage manager as organizer, manager, and liaison. Detailed discussion of all pre-show breakdowns, prompt book preparation, production paperwork, rehearsal, and preparation for and running technical rehearsals.

07:966:339-340 Advanced Stagecraft (2,2) Hands-on exploration of topics in technical theater: theatrical welding, basic theatrical mechanics, and scene shop layout; hot wire cuttings, pipe bending, tracking and revolving scenery; elevators, budgeting, hydraulics, and pneumatics; topics vary per semester.

07:966:345-346 Theatrical Rendering Techniques (2,2) Development of traditional rendering techniques for scenery and costumes, focusing on, but not limited to, watercolors. Fee for photocopying: $5. Gordon.
07:966:358 Portfolio Preparation (1) Prepares the B.F.A. design student to present his or her design work in the professional portfolio format required by the industry. Team-taught by set and costume design faculty, the student is guided in resume preparation, portfolio choices, and professional presentation. Students must buy a portfolio.
