Internships and Scholarships

Internships

Upper-level labor studies and employment relations majors are encouraged to apply for internships, which typically carry 3 credits. They may be arranged by the student, an individual faculty member, or through the department. Students must submit a description of the internship to a faculty adviser or to the director of the undergraduate program.

Approval will be contingent on the suitability of the internship and whether the student has maintained an acceptable academic record in labor studies and employment relations courses.

For internship requirements, writing tips, and the application form, go to: http://smlr.rutgers.edu.

Scholarships

Eduardo Diaz Scholarship:

Eduardo Diaz earned a master's degree in labor studies at Rutgers University. He began his union organizing career while still a master's student by assisting an organizing drive at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick. At the time of his death in the year 2000, he was internal affairs director for the Communications Workers of America.

Anthony Zuccarello Scholarship:

The late Anthony S. Zuccarello was a labor organizer throughout his adult life. Because he believed that his union must be an engine of social change, he was a political activist. Because he believed he was his "brother's keeper," he was generous to every person he knew.
