Research Programs

Henry Rutgers Scholars Program. This program is designed to give outstanding seniors the opportunity for independent research leading to an interdepartmental thesis or a thesis in the major field. This individualized course of study replaces two academic courses in each term of the senior year. Not more than 6 credits of the thesis sequence may be used in satisfaction of major requirements. Both terms must be completed in order to receive degree credit. Students wishing to apply for the Henry Rutgers thesis must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 in their major and a 3.4 average overall.

The Jerome and Lorraine Aresty Research Center for Undergraduates. This facility provides information, services, programs, and undergraduate research funding on a competitive basis to New Brunswick/Piscataway students in all colleges, of any academic year and any major, with the goal of supporting and encouraging their involvement in and understanding of research. The center maintains an active, searchable comprehensive database of research opportunities at Rutgers-New Brunswick/Piscataway. Selected programs include workshops about performing library research in the disciplines, creating posters and conference presentations, and applying for major fellowships. The center also sponsors a yearly undergraduate research symposium and summer undergraduate research fellowships, as well as occasional cocurricular events to enhance the undergraduate research experience.
